transportThe headquarter of Northern Sea Route will move to Murmansk
Russian Federation government passed a new Transport strategy. Northern Sea Route takes an important place in it. One of the realization’s ways of Transport strategy is modernization and thorough repairs of arctic port’s mooring constructions in Northern Sea Route. The reconstructions will allow receiving and serving modern ships with big tonnage. One more reason of including Northern Sea Route into priorities of Russian Transport strategy – outlook of carting’s growth because of new oil-gas field’s mastering in Yamal, river basin of Ob, Yenisei, Lena, in the area of Barents Sea (Stockman, Fault zone’s oil field, Timan-Pechora oil and gas province).
Transport workers think that for safe Northern Sea Route’s functioning it is necessary to have not less than 6 atomic ice-breakers and 4 diesel liner ice-breakers. The main source of new ships’ building will be state budget. At the same time huge Russian companies’ funds will be attracted.
Till the year 2010 it is planned to build 7 Ice Class tankers with deadweight of 378 thousand tons and 18 Ice Class dry-cargo ships with deadweight of 81 thousand tons.
Nowadays ground work for building of new port constructions - oil-loading port in the district of Murmansk, terminals (Indiga, Haresway, Jasya (Gulf of Ob)) is carried out. The headquarter of Northern Sea Route’s western sector will transfer from Dickson into Murmansk. Till the year 2010 Northern Sea Route’s freight flow will be 5 – 7 million tons, till the year 2015 – 13-15 million tons.
