The cost of export has exceeded the cost of import in 9 times

During January – September, 2008 more than 10 million tons of foreign trade were passed through the Murmansk custom. For 9 months of 2008 the products of mineral origin were on the first place in total volume of export, their part in commodity pattern was 59.95%, as the press-cutting service of Murmansk custom informs. 55.62% of this number is mineral oil and oil products. During January – September of this year more than 6.6 million tons of oil and oil products were removed from Murmansk region.In January – September of this year foreign trade of Murmansk custom was more than 10.3 billion dollars. In comparison with the same period of the previous year the external turnover has increased in 22% due to the growth of cost parameters both of export and import.

Murmansk is an export-oriented region. During the last years the importance of export and import increased. The cost of export has exceeded the cost of import in 9 times during the 9 months and is 89.84% of total turnover – more 9.2 billion dollars. Export in Murmansk region is oriented to the far-abroad countries, the most important economic partner is the Netherlands.

During the 9 months the import to Murmansk region was more than 1 billion dollars. In comparison with the same period of the previous year it has increased in 281.95%. Goods are exported mostly from Korea, Germany, Sweden, Spain and Finland.

Industrial equipment; special machines and spares to them; products of chemical industry, irons; foodstuffs, including products of offshore operations, are mostly imported to Murmansk region. 83.59% are machines, equipment and vehicles, from them 59.57% are tonnages, boats and other floating resources.

In January – September of this year 482 members of foreign-economic activity of Murmansk custom had foreign trade transactions with 67 countries. 267 members worked for export, 352 members - for import.
Mostly goods are transferred by sea transport (85.47%) and railway transport (12.73%).
