The Federal Antimonopoly Service will help with the high petrol prices

This decision was made by the representatives of the Murmansk business community on the last meeting of the Coordination Council on the questions of the small and medium businesses of the Murmansk City Administration. The reason to prepare official letter to the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation is a considerable difference of petrol costs inside the Murmansk region and outside in comparison with neighbor Federal Districts. As an example, the difference in AI-95 costs between Belomorsk district on the border with Karelia and Murmansk is almost 3 rubles per litre.

Besides, maximum petrol price is observed only in Murmansk AZS of all oil companies. This fact can give grounds to suppose collusion between companies with the aim of high profits was made. It can be the direct infringement of Antimonopoly Law of the Russian Federation.

Probable collusion causes concern of business community because of one more reason- the growth of petrol prices influences prices of all products and services and, consequently, reduces buying power of citizens of the Murmansk region.

All in all, the letter will help to take actions to solve the problem. Answers on the formal requests from oil companies and information about the dynamics of international and regional petrol prices will be attached to the letter.
