Murmansk and region“North-west phosphoric company” is ready for constructions
The Agreement on socio-economic cooperation between ZAO “North-west phosphoric company” (NWPC) and the Government of the Murmansk region was signed on October 8, 2008.Uriy Evdokimov, Governor of the Murmansk region, mentioned NWPC officially announced their aim to build the mining-and-processing complex on the place of apatite and nephelinic field Oleniy Ruchey in the Murmansk region on October 4, 2005. Total cost of the project is 24 billion rubles. NWPC has successfully passed government environmental expertise on the project of mining-and-processing complex and is ready for the construction of the complex. As Uriy Evdokimov noticed, building of this complex will lead to the growth of investments and taxes to the regional budget and to rebirth of Koashva village, as there are 1200 workers needed on the complex-building.
Ivan Antonov, Chairman of the Board of Director of NWPC, underlined that the terms of construction will be shortened by 1.5-2 years. Management promised company will be registered as a legal body in Apatity and the building of the complex will begin this year. The first stage is the construction of pit and concentrating factory that is half of the whole project. It is planned to begin the commercial production of apatite and nephelinic ores by the open-cut mining method in 2011. At the present moment negotiations with Russian and foreign banks are carried out in order to attract credit funds for the building of complex. However, as Ivan Antonov assured, subsidiary enterprise of NWPC “Akron” has internal funds for the beginning of construction.
Sergey Fedorov, Managing Director of ZAO “North-west phosphoric company”, specified money is also provided for the development of Koashva village situated at 7-8 km from the mine. Accommodation, kindergarten and other social services will be built in this village.
Signed agreement also includes that company will subsist the public roads of Kirovsko-Apatitskiy district according the contract with “Murmanskautodorom” and support financially and materially educational, cultural, heath and sport institutions
Mikhail Gyseev, First Deputy of Managing Director – Technical Director of NWPC, also attended the meeting and explained to MBNEWS the next step is the negotiations with construction companies that will be held in Apatity tomorrow.
